While listening to Good 2 Great I heard something very interesting. It was along the lines of … your company should set out to be #1 or 2 in your industry or don’t run that business at all. (Hey I’m not the greatest @ paraphrasing, but you get the idea.)

Often times we set out to just make some extra money, to just get by, to “see” if an idea can work. But how often do we set out to be the best, to dominate a market or niche. How ferocious are you when it comes to pursuing your goals and ideas? Do you set out to wish them into existence or do you attack like your life depended on it?

At the beginning a lot of people set lofty goals for themselves, business and other company related projects, however by the 2nd week and for many the 2nd day the whole resolution went flying through the window. They set out to achieve a high goal without setting high standard and taking massive action. Yes we are all humans and tend to give in to what we’ve conditioned ourselves to do, but at some time you have to be pissed with where you are.

I get pissed because I’m not where I want to be.
I’m pissed because I chose to watch 2hrs of mindless TV just because.
I’m pissed because I lacked action.
I get pissed because I talked a lot for years and did not do a lot.

I’m pissed off because I want to be #1 and DOMINATE my niche, yet I’m often stuck in the idea mode.

How pissed are you? How much passion for your company do you have?

Are you setting out to be #1 or #2 in your industry?

Or do you fall into the category of attempting to be subpar and just by?

It was an interesting day Sunday as the day sped by, especially in the afternoon when some different things started to happen.

In the afternoon my wife got a call from a friend who was quite upset about a mutual friend we have and what that friend has been saying about us to other people. At first I got kind of upset because of course or I hope like most people, we see ourselves as such good friends. We always look for ways to help benefit friends when an opportunity presents itself, we give a lot and we’re very mindful what we say to and around people. How & Why would this seems to be x friend act in this way? Like I said I was very disturbed.

However in an instant moment my mind flipped and said “STOP!” I started to think, “If I am nobody now and I’m caring what every little person thinks about me, what am I going to do when I begin to accumulate wealth? What Am I going to do under the scrutiny of a larger audience of people?” At that point I just laughed to myself, I considered the source of the negative message and just forgot about the whole thing, because people are going to form their own opinions of you no matter what you do and say to them. People need to create enough drama to keep their lives interesting it seems.

Then the universe confirmed this whole thought process to me. Once I stepped downstairs, then channel was on 60 minutes which was doing a piece on an American olympic skiier. The pre-interview spoke about the expectations of the American community for this skiier (sorry don’t remember his name), because he’s so fast, and skis so well everyone expects 5 gold medals, etc. They also had statements from Ski coaches saying he’s great, but he’s unorthodox and sometimes a wreckless. Yes he’s a brilliant skier, but he drinks, parties, makes millions from a sport that’s not even huge in America, yes he’s flawed.

When he was questionned about all these different thoughts about him, the high expectations, the pressure, and the ski coaches seeing him as wreckless, he said he didn’t care. Basically he said, people will do whatever and say whatever about him no matter what he does, especially since he’s not an ordinary person. He went on to say he’s dedicated to his craft and his family who’s been there for him at the start (He was home schooled to the 6th grade). He even addressed what’s percieved as excessive partying and drinking, saying he knows it’s bad for him, especially when he’s banged up before he has to ski. However, he knows this is something he has to rectify, not because OTHERS say it’s a big problem, but because he knows within himself that it needs to be done if it’s going to affect his craft.

It was a really interesting piece that addressed and confirmed what I was thinking in the 1st place.

After that a friend came by (I’m working on a project for him) and we began to talk about the same thing and this mentality people have of “I don’t want to be your victim, so I don’t want to help you.” Even when it’s a mutually beneficial situation, regular or “UN-REAL” people don’t want to help because they don’t want to feel like their used. Even though they will never do anything on that level of success or even use that connection for someone else they don’t know.

When it comes to friends, it seems like if they consider you on the same level as them, they don’t want you to benefit because they see it being taken advantage of. Yet if a bigger brand, company or person approaches them with no benefit to them, they see it as a worthy “CAUSE”. No they’re not getting anything out of it, but they get the satisfaction of saying that company “USED” me and my expertise and wow that’s so great. They don’t say their job takes advantage of them, the government takes advantage of them, the statisticians take advantage of them, the store takes advantage of them, marketers take advantage of them, etc.

They rather say, you’re my friend and I don’t want you to help elevate us by taking advantage of my talents and connections, so go find another way to do it. What a screwed up thought process if you ask me!

I got the message from the universe the 1st time, but all these conversations and messages confirmed it even more for me. Then I reflected on what I read in How To Become A Billionaire, which stated how Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, etc had to have a thick skin because what they were doing in their own rights was something exceptional.

So if they have to deal with fighting anti trust lawsuits from the government and monopoly inquiries from their market place, who am I to care what 1 single person thinks about me?

Who cares what people think? I can only be the best person I know how to be!

Honestly I’ve been stuck on my Millionaire Quest …

Too many ideas, too much distractions, not enough effort, just pick whichever excuse you’d like.

It all boils down to systems and discipline, which I’m both working on.

Through the times I’ve started and stopped, some of my own friends have seen great success through blogging, creating products and just sticking with it.

Which brings me to the Thirty Day Challenge …

I joined to bring some structure to what I’m doing and it seems to be working so far.

I’m much more focused than usual.

The Thirty Day Challenge is an online course that started @ the beginning of August, to teach people how to use the internet to make money.

I’ve learned a lot so far and will be implementing many of the strategies into my millionaire quest (yes I’m back on it again!)

I plan to stick to it this time, motivation does that to yah!

As I’ve mentioned before, I plan on leveraging the internet to become a millionaire.

Yes there are many things you need to do, writing, coding, graphics, SEO, advertising, etc. But John shared a simple secret that we all tend to overlook.

Today I zoomed over to http://www.ducttapemarketing.com which is run by the inspiring John Jantsch and I saw an interesting post.

Apparently yesterday there was an event by Make Mine a $Million Business™ which has set out to help female business owners transform and build the businesses. (Sorry if you missed it!)

Packed with resources, workshops, speakers, mentoring and more, the event that took place at the Manhattan Center in New York City should be applauded. It should be applauded because it is not very often I see quality events like this take place and opened to the public.

Whenever you happen to hear of events like these, it’s always some secret society circle that you have to have been borned into. Or you have to have a million dollars to even approach the organizers to sit at their table.

Even though the guys weren’t invited this go around, I am sure it was a blast.

I’ll wait to see if John gives an update of how this event went and if it lived up to expectations.

When Millionaires Jump Through Fear

I noticed something recently, reading up on a lot of millionaires and their process in getting to where they are today. They lived their life, went day by day, toiled, worked hard and then one day they all came to a realization. They realized, “My life really sucks right now and I have to do something about this!”

In an instance they made a decision, they came to a conclusion to change, they decided to JUMP! Jump from an ordinary life, jump through poverty, jump over obstacles, jump through fear into fearlessness.

I believe this to be the most consistent thread along all story lines, they all made a decision to make a change. At the end of the that all it really boils down to, making a decision to live a better life and be a better person. Some may be more far gone that others to understand that’s all it takes, a simple decision.

All the books, all the magazines, all the tools and tactics are there to help. Yet until you make that life changing decision, the decision to jump, jump from the treadmill of an average life, expect your life to remain the way it is and has been since you can last remember.

Here’s to the Jumpers who make the world a great place to live in!

The story goes something like this.

A young protege meets his mentor for a millionaire for the 100th time. And on this occasion the young protege is more frantic than usual.

Protege: “Master, I’ve followed all your steps, I’ve read everything and tried to do everything you said. Why am I not a millionaire like you? Is there something you are not telling me?”

Master Millionaire: “What is it you have done so far? I’ve shared everything there is to know to be far wealthier than I am.”

P: “I have 27 projects going all built on your principles and none of them are doing well? You’ve lied to me, you’ve tricked me out of my time and resources.”

MM: “The only trick that’s happened young protege is you tricking yourself out of your riches. There is now way you can be wealthy if you do not FOCUS on one @ a time!”

P: “But you have multiple resources, you are hiding your true secrets!”

MM: “No I’ve built each, 1 @ a time, on it’s own stable footing! You seem to be missing the real lessons of focusing your energies properly into one great project.”

P: “You’re obviously not telling me everything I need to know, there must be more to this!”

It’s funny I’m at an internet marketing conference and all the young apprentices sound just like the Protege. The masters are here telling them exactly what they did to become wealth. However the young apprentices are looking at them in bewilderment, waiting for some magic pill, when all they have to do is focus on the basic principles in order to become wealthy on the internet.
